Tyler Barrack, business co-owner and captain, grew up in the Northern Neck of Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay, “I have had a love for the water ever since I can remember. I had my first skiff by age 10 and never looked back. Summers were filled with daily doses of fishing, crabbing and water sports. After college, my desire for adventure took me to Haines, Alaska for 7 years of commercial salmon and halibut fishing. While the experience on the Pacific was incredible and life changing, the call of the warm waters and sandy beaches of the Atlantic eventually drew me back east. I have lived in Wilmington now for 8 years with my wife and 2 sons.”
After working in the local industry for a few years it became obvious to Tyler what was missing. Clients were looking for a nice, classy, comfortable vessel for a spouse’s birthday or anniversary trip to Bald Head Island or Beaufort. After months of research and planning Tyler and business partner, TJ Rooney, purchased “Civility”, a True North 38 and Airlie Pointe Yacht Charters was born. Civility features a climate controlled salon and cabin, hot water shower, restroom and fully stocked galley- everything you might need for a comfortable adventure.
Airlie Pointe focuses on being customizable. Customers cruise, fish, crab, oyster, SUP, beach comb, host events (weddings, memorials, etc), offer catering, dock and dine meals, destination vacations, explore uninhabited islands and much more. We’ve even taken clients out for tours of the Frying Pan Tower! Another advantage of Civility’s versatility is the ability to always have a plan B. If Mother Nature decides to make the original plan impossible, the comfy indoor salon allows for a quick change of plans and a good time regardless of conditions.
While we operate as an earnest business, we never take ourselves too seriously. We are neither salty nor pretentious. The goal of Airlie Pointe is to encourage a love of southeastern NC and boating with all those who climb aboard.
