Plastic Ocean Project is a locally-founded nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of human and environmental health by mitigating the plastic pollution crisis. We envision a world free of plastic pollution by empowering everyone to make more scientifically-informed choices for their health and the environment. We work in the community by doing local roadside, beach, and community park cleanups, and we run our own independent lab at the  UNCW CREST Research Park. We are also working on a full-length documentary project called "If The Ocean Could Talk: A Voice For the North Atlantic", the short for which was accepted to and included in numerous film festivals.

The Plastic Ocean Project 2nd Annual For The Ocean Gala 2023

Plastic Ocean Project invites you to join us for a very special evening at the beautiful, new Lumina Resort at Wrightsville Beach to celebrate our 2nd Annual For the Ocean Gala. You will be just steps away from the Atlantic Ocean as you enjoy our silent auction, cocktails, delectable fare, special surprise raffles/auctions, and live music from Benny Hill Trio. Highlights from our full-length documentary "If the Ocean Could Talk: A Voice for the North Atlantic" will be shared along with stories from our researchers, educators, and artists. Like last year's sell-out event, it promises to be an elegant event "for the ocean!

After selling out FOUR WEEKS prior to the event last year, we were happily forced to choose a larger venue this year to allow more of our fellow ocean-lovers to join us. We have a wider variety of silent auction items as well!
